Hudson Valley Challenge October 11th

Washingtonville High School, 54 W.Main Street, Washingtonville, NY

Completed!  We had over 6 champion and several place finishers in this tournament.  Including 5th graders Shane Griffith and Garrett Beam who bumped up to the middle school division, finishing 1st and 2nd respectively.


Newark Academy Tournament November 7th, 2009

Newark Academy 91 South Orange Ave, Livingston, NJ

$25 if pre-registered, $30 at the door., Madison Weights.

Split Sessions: Bantam (2nd grade and under) and Midget (3 & 4) being wrestling at 9am.

Juniors (5th & 6th) and Intermediate (7th & 8th) begin at noon.

Time Periods:
Bantam, Midget–  3 One Minute Periods, OT is 1 – 0:30 – 0:30 – 0:30 (New Rules)
Junior, Intermediate, – 3 – 1.5 Minute Periods, OT is 1 – 0:30 – 0:30 – 0:30 (New Rules)

Cost: $25 if pre-registered by October 23rd $30 if paid at walk ins.

Weigh-ins: 7-8am. Periods: 1.5-1.5-1.5

Weight Classes: 99, 106, 115, 122, 128, 133, 138, 143, 155, 163, 174, 192, 218, 288

This is the first annual tournament put on by our good friend, guest clinician and two time world champion, Volgar.  There will be wrestlers from several states not to mention some of the best wrestlers from NY.  You can download the registration form at:


NHSCA Pre-season Nationals November 14th

Pleasant Valley High School, Brodheadsville, PA.

Cost per wrestler: $100 this will cover entry to the tournament, transportation there and back and one Apex T-shirt.  If you already own an Apex shirt deduct $10.  Transportation will be provided by Leprechaun Bus Lines in a 56 passenger bus.  We will be registering the team all at once so please get your entry form and money to Coach Wernikoff asap.

Weight classes: Standard HS Weights: 103-285.

We will be leaving from Golds Gym at 6:30am.  We will weigh-in as soon as we get there.

At 8:30am Head Coach from Bucknell University, Dan Wirnsbirger will be on-site to speak to wrestlers, coaches and parents.  This will be made available to all wrestlers and coaches. NCAA coaches present important topics such as: what a college coach looks for in a student-athlete, how to best prepare to compete at the next level, how to peak for the state tournament and more.

Wrestling will begin at 10am.  We will return NO LATER than 10:30pm.


Journeymen Northeast Wrestling Scrimmage and College Duals

November 27th-28th, 2009         Cost: $70  This includes the hotel room and cost of the duals.

We will be leaving on the 27th at 1:30pm.  We will be staying for the college duals the next day and returning around 7pm on the 28th.  On the 27th all of the college coaches will be in attendance for the clinic and will have information on their programs.  Because we are car pooling space is very limited!  Please contact Coach Wernikoff ASAP if you want to go.

The college teams that will be competing are: American, Applachian State, Binghamton, Bloomsburg, Central Michigan, Columbia, Hofstra, Lehigh, Maryland, Michigan, Nebraska, North Carolina, Northern Colorado, Pennsylvania, Sacred Heart, Virginia.
