Alexander “Lenny” Richardson is continuing his success on the mat at Old Dominion.  The 2012 St. Peters Prep graduate and lifelong Apex Wrestling School member is a true freshman for the Monarchs.  He was recently named to the CAA Wrestling Preseason All-Freshman Team; one of three freshman at Old Dominion to earn that honor.

Last night the Monarchs held their annual Blue and Silver Intrasquad Scrimmage.  Richardson showed that he is going to be a force in the CAA by winning both of his wrestle-offs.  His first match was a 9-3 decision over Sophomore Jacob Kingett from Woodbridge, VA.  His second match was an equally impressive victory over RS Freshman Pete Baldwin.  Baldwin was a CAA Rookie of the Month last year, a 2011 Senior National Finalist and recorded 324 career victories in high school at Osceola, Florida.

Lenny was a key member of the 2011 Apex team that won the Pop-N-Flo National Dual Championships where he defeated 2011 NJ State Champion Anthony Perrotti in the finals.  He was a 2X NJ State Place Finisher, NJ State Champion in 2012 and 2X NHSCA National Champion (Juniors and Seniors.)

Coach Martin and the ODU staff is considering whether or not to redshirt the talented Richardson, if he does get the start he will be joining fellow NJ natives, NJ State Champions, Rob Deutsch and Scott Festejo.
