Des Fried named wrestler to watch this week by Star Ledger

Des Fried was named an athlete to watch this week by the Star Ledger.  Des, a senior for West Orange HS, is on a tear this season.  He is 16-1 and has scored bonus points in 13 of those 16 wins.  A captain for West Orange Des is one of the hardest workers in the club.  Even during the season he has continue to attend classes at Apex twice a week and trains with Erik Norgaard.  In the off season Des proved a valuable member of our travel team that won the Pop-N-Flo National Duals and finished 2nd at the Blair Invitational Duals.

Union County Tournament this Weekend

The Union County Tournament is schedule for Saturday at Union High School.  Wrestling starts at 9am and the finals are scheduled for 4pm.  The team race will prove very tight this year as Brearley, coming over 6 straight UCT titles, will be a man short without 2X UCT Champion Anthony Rice due to an ACL injury that took him out for the season.  Gov. Livingston, Westfield, and Roselle Park should also be in the hunt for a title.  If you don’t have any plans put on your Apex gear and get out to the gym to support the more than 30 Apex wrestlers battling for a place on the podium!
