Apex Wrestling School would like to congratulate Nick Raimo on winning the 2015 USAW Cadet 120lb Greco-Roman National Championship and the Outstanding Wrestler Award. This was Nick’s second Greco-roman tournament ever. Nick dominated the competition scoring a technical fall or pin in every round. The incoming freshman opened the tournament with a 10-0 TF over California’s Adrian Gonzalez. Next up he scored 10- TF’s over Jacob Barnett (WI), Connor Ward (KS), and Cameron Valdivie (MO.) Cameron had teched every opponent up to the quarters before running into Raimo.

Next up, in the Semi-finals, Nick would face Clai Quintanilla (WA) who had not given up a single point all tournament. Nick scored first with a 1pt push-up for Quintanilla stepping out. The score would be tied out at the 1:30 mark when Nick was forced to step out. The second period started with the score tied 1-1 before Raimo was able to counter an arm throw and go up 3-1 only :30 seconds into the second period. After a series of exchanges Raimo was able to reverse Clai to his back and get the fall with less than 10 seconds to go in the match.

In the finals Raimo dominated the hand fighting with WI State Champion Alston Nutter and was able to score an early push-out with an underhook. Raimo eventually proved to be too much when he threw Nutter to his back and secured the fall. Congratulations again Nick on all of your hard work! Below is Nick’s interview with FloWrestling.
