True Freshman and Apex Wrestling School Alum Joe Cummings stepped up huge for Division I Appalachian State this past weekend!  With his team down by two points, heading into the final bout, Joe found himself in a position few freshman find themselves in their first year of Division I wrestling;  the match came down to him.  Joe defeated Harvard Freshman David Ng 7-3 to improve to 9-9 on the season.  David Ng was a standout wrestler in Long Island, NY and this was a great victory for Joe and the improving Appalachian State Wrestling Team!

Joe was a huge part of the success of Apex’s travel team in 2011.  With Joe anchoring the team Apex was able to reach the finals of the Blair Invitational Duals, win several other tournaments and most importantly win the 2011 Pop-N-Flo National Duals!  Good luck Joe!

Also, wrestling at the Lone Star Duals was Harvard True Freshman and Apex Alum James Fox.  James majored his Appalachian State opponent 9-1 and has compiled a 17-9.  James, an undersized 197lber, has stepped up to fill a hole for Harvard at 197 and has shown that he is one of the hardest workers in all of Division I wrestling.  His most notable win this season was a thrilling one point victory over 4 time state champion Andrew Campolattano.  Good luck the second half of the season James!
