2011 NJ All-Star Match

Apex Wrestling School was represented by six wrestlers in the 2010 NJ All-Star match. This prestigious invitation only event is a great way to be recognized on a state level and a way to potentially secure a high seed in the NJ state tournament in Atlantic City. At 103 pounds, Louis Gonzales of North Bergen (ranked #1) used a cradle to pin Mike Bohling of Sayerville (#3) in a shocking 54 seconds. At 130 pounds, Lenny Richardson (ranked #5) of Saint Peters Prep lost a 10-4 decision to BJ Clagon (ranked #4) of Toms River South. Clagon is a “super sophomore” who placed in the states last year and won the NHSCA nationals in Virginia Beach in dominating fashion. A few corrections will help Lenny get past Clagon in Atlantic City.

At 145, Sal Mastriani (ranked #3) of Don Bosco Prep lost a 9-4 decision to senior phenom James Green (ranked #1) of Willingsboro. Green was a state finalist and a Flownational champion at 140 last year. Sal will hopefully get a rematch in the finals at Boardwalk Hall. At 152, Christian Barber (ranked #3) of Westfield won an exciting 5-3 decision against an extremely game Connor Brennen (ranked #5) of Brick Memorial. At 171, Tony Pafumi (ranked #2) of Saint Peter’s Prep won a convincing 4-3 decision over Mike Labell (ranked #8). at 189, James Fox of Saint Peter’s Prep won a 3-1 decision over Brian Lussier of Cherry Hill East. Other occasional Apex wrestlers involved in the event was Kevin Corrigan at 112, and Colin Hewitt at 171.
